Microsoft and Capgemini team up to push cloud
Microsoft has joined forces with Capgemini in a move designed to promote the Azure platform
UK users will be among the first to benefit from from a new tie-up between Capgemini and Microsoft. The two companies are also set to lead a research project into the take-up of cloud, examining to what extent security and sovereignty remain inhibitors for cloud deployment.
The main aim of the agreement, however, is to roll out a range of cloud-based service based on Microsoft's Azure. The French-owned software and ervices company will be using its expertise in orchestrating, designing, developing and running cloud-based applications based on Microsoft's own cloud product. In addition, the two companies will undertake to train 1,500 architects and developers globally on the Windows Azure platform and develop a dedicated offshore centre of expertise through building up the Windows Azure Centre of Excellence in India.
Besides the UK, the companies will be offering services in the US, France, Netherlands, Canada and Brazil, although the two firms will be serving 22 countries in total.
Capgemini already has a very strong alliance with Microsoft and this further strengthens our relationship. We have a long history of customer collaboration and deep sector specific expertise and Microsoft offers innovative solutions to meet customer needs in the quickly growing domain of the cloud.” said John Brahim, Capgemini’s Application Services Europe Deputy CEO.
