Nutanix teams up with Mason IT to launch zero carbon private cloud
Geothermal energy powers flash-accelerated San-less cloud
Virtualised workload appliance provider Nutanix has partnered with private cloud provider Mason IT to offer San-less private clouds to customers.
Mason IT becomes Nutanix’s first partner in Europe. According to Mason IT, it chose Nutanix’s technology due to its “flexible, scalable and predictable performance.” The firm will use Nutanix Cluster within its own data centres and provide on-premise solutions for their customers.
The Nutanix appliance condenses the conventional two-tiered data centre design of storage and compute down to one single scalable appliance. The appliance uses flash memory and is capable of hosting thousands of virtualised workloads without the need for a San.
Gisli Helgason, technical director at Mason IT said that sustainable IT is a key part of his company’s strategy.
"We offer our customers two private cloud options; a UK-based solution with infrastructure built using the latest-generation, energy-efficient technology and a sustainable zero-carbon private cloud in Iceland, where our customers benefit from 100% renewable energy with lower, and predictable long-term energy costs,” he said.
“Not only do Nutanix focus on energy efficiency, but they offer a radically different approach to a traditional architecture by providing converged compute and storage. This can scale to manage petabytes of data with no degradation of performance for our customers.”
Alan Campbell, Director, Nutanix EMEA said that having Mason IT as his company’s first cloud service provider customer in EMEA “emphasises the importance of a scalable, cost effective approach to providing infrastructure-as-a-service.”
“With many organisations looking to leverage cloud services to provide a competitive edge, we look forward to working with Mason IT to accelerate cloud offerings in EMEA.”
