StillSecure launches cloud security service on AWS
Firewall management is first of series of applications planned for public provider’s platform
Managed network security vendor StillSecure announced a major strategic move into public cloud late yesterday, joining the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Solution Providers Programme.
The move allows StillSecure to offer its Linux host-based firewall management Cloud Security Monitoring software-as-as-service (Cloud SMS) on AWS.
Cloud SMS is aimed at protecting cloud infrastructure users and providers from online threats.
Available free of charge and managed through a web-based interface, the vendor said the firewall service would be the first of a number of applications it plans to launch on the AWS platform.
James Brown, StillSecure chief technology officer, stated that Cloud SMS was “an ideal solution” for AWS customers.
“It follows the Amazon model of being easy-to-use, scalable, and cost-effective,” he said.
Following a period of intense focus on the security of cloud computing-based IT environments, where research has exposed cloud services flaws and end-user negligence, Brown added: “Organisations have serious concerns about cloud security, and rightly so.
“In today’s heavy threat environment, they simply do not know where to turn, or even where to start.”
In response, he said Cloud SMS would meet the defensive monitoring requirements of large and small companies using Amazon’s public cloud infrastructure.
