Rackspace and Red Hat buddy-up for OpenStack private cloud

Rackspace Private Cloud powered by Red Hat will deliver 99.99 per cent uptime

Rackspace has collaborated with Red Hat to produce a new OpenStack-as-a-Service offering.

Called Rackspace Private Cloud powered by Red Hat, the product provides, as the name would suggest, Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform on Rackspace's hosted private clouds. The offering is in addition to Rackspace's existing Private Cloud powered by OpenStack portfolio.

The hosted private cloud service is fully managed by OpenStack and Red Hat specialists at Rackspace with access to the company's "Fanatical Support" customer service infrastructure.

Radhesh Balakrishnan, GM of OpenStack at RedHat, said: "We are excited about the launch of Rackspace Private Cloud powered by Red Hat ... [which] will further accelerate the adoption of OpenStack by bringing its power to customers keen to consume private cloud delivered as a managed service."

"Red Hat and Rackspace have a long history of working together ... and we look forward to continuing to drive great outcomes for our customers through this extension of our relationship," he said.

Giri Fox, director of customer technology services at Rackspace, added: "Working to deliver a Red Hat certified, Rackspace-operated private cloud creates ... [a] strategic option for customers who want a reliable and compatible OpenStack solution."

"We are proud of our heritage as a leading operator of OpenStack clouds and of our longstanding partnership with Red Hat. It's exciting to extend our product portfolio and services to the Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack platform," Fox added.

Rackspace Private Cloud powered by Red Hat is available immediately worldwide.
