New owner sends Tate & Lyle to the cloud after sweet deal with Virtustream
Domino Sugar insists its new European assets fall into line and head for the cloud.
Virtustream will begin providing services to the European operations of the world’s largest sugar refiner, Domino Sugar.
It’s an expansion of the services agreement the cloud infrastructure provider already had with Domino and covers refineries in London and Lisbon the company has recently acquired from Tate & Lyle PLC.
Virtustream announced today it had successfully migrated the acquired systems directly onto its existing secure, multi-tenanted, private cloud. It revealed the enterprise cloud runs on the Virtustream xStream platform – built on IBM cloud enabling technology and Tivoli automation and monitoring software – from which Domino Sugar manages, maintains and scales its solution requirements. It said the migration took four months to complete.
Domino Sugar chief information officer Don Whittington said that by moving the infrastructure and applications directly onto the xStream enterprise cloud, the company had been able to leverage the flexibility and interoperability of the cloud and consolidate the systems into Domino’s environment more easily.
IBM and Virtustream have recently expanded their strategic collaboration in Europe, with Virtustream becoming one of the first IBM partners to co-sell and co-deliver cloud solutions specifically designed for the needs of mid-market UK clients.
