Tech giant IBM is offering users the chance to try out several products and services from its cloud portfolio for free.
The trial includes hands-on experience with SmartCloud Enterprise, SmartCloud Application Services Collaborative Lifecycle Management Services, SmartCloud Enterprise Object Storage, and IBM software and virtual machines running Linux or Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008.
IBM claims SmartCloud can transform businesses through increased agility, innovation and an accelerated time-to-market.
“IBM SmartCloud Enterprise is an open standards [OpenStack] based cloud platform that is ideally suited for development and test, batch processing, website hosting, object storage, business analytics, SAP migration, working big data with Hadoop, and other cloud-centric workloads,” the company said.
News of the free trial comes hot on the heels of some Cloud Industry Forum's findings that suggest businesses are increasingly demanding a ‘try-before-you-buy’ approach to cloud service adoption. Research carried out by the trade body shows 59 per cent of UK users have carried out a pilot or trial of a cloud offering before entering into a formal contract for the service.
Businesses have until 26 October to sign up for the trial offer. Companies that subscribe will be able to access the package for free until 11 November.
