Virtualization

Virtualisation makes large centralised infrasrtuctures appear to be small, dedicated – even custom – resources at the user end. Almost anything can be virtualised: servers, storage, networks, even desktops. Since large infrastructures are cheaper to build and maintain, the cost of a small ‘slice’ is much lower than the equivalent dedicated system.
