California-based multinational Google is best-known for its leading search engine but also provides cloud computing solutions and other internet-based services and products. It was founded in 1998 to “organise the world’s information” to make it accessible and useable and runs more than a million servers in its global data centres. It operates the well-known Gmail email service, web browser Google Chrome, the Google Talk messaging application and even produces operating systems for mobile telephones.
