Accounting and financial application software monitors and processes transactions coming and out of an enterprise. This includes ERP software and other high-end, often cloud-based, accounting/financial software. 

One of the advantages of using cloud-based financial/accounting software is that it is scalable, so you have more storage or compute on available to you on the days you need it. Payroll is the record of salaries, wages and bonuses paid by a company to employees and a record of taxes paid and deductions made.
