As might be expected, Microsoft has been a strong leader in the move to cloud computing. It launched its Azure platform in February 2010 and this became one of the leading developement platforms. Microsoft has since built on its presence in the cloud and has made clear its commitment to the technology. Indeed, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has said that the company is betting its future on cloud and has already committed the bulk of its software developers to cloud.
The company has shrugged off the recent departure of cloud evangelist Ray Ozzie, shortly after the launch of a new range of Azure services and is planning new launches, including an Azure appliance for service providers.
