New Microsoft Azure-based service ports users onto hosted Exchange, Office 365

Infrastructure software company Quest has launched its Quest OnDemand Migration for Email to allow Office and Exchange users to port to cloud-based versions of the productivity software.

The cloud-based migration service is built on Microsoft's Azure platform. The product is aimed at both organisations and service providers looking to migrate themselves or customers to a hosted cloud platform.

The new release offers migration and new capabilities so that organisations can take advantage of the functionality, convenience and cost savings delivered by the cloud.

The migration application suite includes an assortment of migration and coexistence applications to eradicate or reduce email migration project risks.

Quest has also improved Coexistence Manager for GroupWise, which now supports GroupWise 7 while the new version includes coexistence between GroupWise 7 and Exchange 2010 or Office 365.

GroupWise Migrator for Exchange, which is available later this year, lessens business productivity interruptions, including the facility to migrate recurring meetings created in GroupWise, and resource creation within Active Directory during a migration to Exchange.

The company said its products aim to eliminate risk and reduce costs so IT departments can complete migrations on time and budget, with minimal business disruptions.

Quest Software Windows Server Management senior vice president and general manager Steve Dickson said, "Upgrading to Office 365 or hosted Exchange can realise significant financial benefits for an organisation, including a reduction in IT expense, enhanced infrastructure reliability, and simplified systems management."
