Thomson Reuters adopts cloud HR

The news agency moves its payroll and HR systems into the cloud.

Thomson Reuters has made its move into cloud computing with the adoption of two software as a service (SaaS) products for its internal operations.

The world famous news agency has signed up for both Human Resources (HR) and payroll data services from US-based firm Workday.

A spokesperson from Thomson Reuters confirmed the deal with Cloud Pro but would not reveal the cost or length of the contract is had signed up for.

"We required a partner that would work alongside Thomson Reuters to meet the talent goals we've established for our diverse global organisation," said Sue Laskey-Myers, senior vice president of global HR solutions and service delivery at Thomson Reuters.

"Workday has demonstrated they will be that partner, and together we can fulfil our vision of delivering a game-changing HR and payroll system to employees across the world."

Thomson Reuters is headquartered in New York, but has bases both in Canary Wharf and Old Street in the UK.

Workday is most well-known for what it calls its “Human Capital Management” offering, but also provides payroll, accounting and financial SaaS for enterprises.

Dave Duffield, co-CEO and chief customer advocate at Workday, said the company was “thrilled” to have its new customer onboard.
